AYURVEDIC MASSAGE

Taken from Sanskrit (the ancient language of india), Ayurveda translates as ‘knowledge of life’. Ayurveda comprises diet, Yoga, massage, detoxification, herbal remedies, meditation and daily lifestyle, to improve not only a person’s health, but also their well being, behaviour and state of mind.

Ayurvedic Massage uses different massage techniques including tapping, kneading and squeezing as well as traditional massage strokes, while the oil plays the most important role in the treatment. The oil is infused with Ayurvedic herbs for individual body-mind constitution composed of a Dosha, a combination of the five different elements (space, air, fire, water and earth). The oil is heated and applied directly to the skin of the client. As the oil soaks into the skin, the herbal essences will help to detoxify the body. It’s encouraged to leave the oil on the skin for as long as possible after the massage. Hair will also come in contact with the oils.
