CANCER MASSAGE

Cancer Massage or Oncology Massage refers to massage treatment applied to people with cancer. Massage is promoted as a natural way to help relax and cope with stress, anxiety, headaches and pain caused by the disease and the treatment side effects. Swedish Massage, Aromatherapy, Reflexology or any type of gentle massage techniques are usually used. Some people worry that massage could make the cancer cells spread to other parts of the body, but no research has proved this to be true (Cancer Research UK, Macmillan Cancer Support).

It’s not safe for everyone with cancer to have massage therapy. You must always talk to your doctor before getting any type of massage therapy. Massage therapists working with people with cancer must be properly trained and certified in Cancer Massage or Oncology Massage.
